Original Aboriginal art decorates the walls and a private courtyard beckons you to linger over afternoon drinks. An inviting feature of 'Sweeny Cottage' is the two upstairs bedrooms with quality blankets and fine linen. This 4.5 star home is fully self-contained and serviced weekly for your convenience. Step out the front door for an easy 5 minute walk to vibrant Bridport Street Village with its supermarket, shops, cafes and restaurants. Nearby is the magnificent St Vincent Gardens with some of Melbourne's finest homes. Albert Park Lake and Grand Prix circuit plus the beach are only a kilometre away. Leave the car behind and catch the tram at the end of the street to explore nearby St Kilda, Crown Casino and Melbourne's many attractions. 'Sweeny Cottage' can be your own Melbourne townhouse with everything Albert Park has to offer at your doorstep. Accommodation Bedrooms: The two bedrooms each with queen size double bed are upstairs. There is a wardrobe in each room and quality bath robes are supplied. Bathrooms: Upstairs and between the bedrooms is the fully tiled bathroom with toilet and large separate shower. Large fluffy towels are heated on a towel rail. Downstairs there is also a powder room with toilet. Kitchen: The ultra modern kitchen is very well equipped for self-catering with a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge and freezer plus all modern appliances and utensils in excellent condition. There is also a laundry tub and washing machine with ironing facilities. Utility Room: The kitchen is set up for tea and coffee making plus breakfast cereal and milk is provided. The bathrooms have a range of luxury personal amenities and soap. A hairdryer is supplied. Living Rooms: The lounge has a soft, comfy sofa and lounge chair to watch the large screen plasma TV. A BOSE sound system provides you with a wide choice of pre recorded music and there is a range of DVDs available. The open gas fire adds to the charm of this room. Other: There is a dining table for 6 and a separate kitchen table and chairs. Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: All linen, towels and tea towels are provided and the cottage will be fully serviced once a week if your stay is longer than 7 days. There is a choice of pillows available and blankets and doonas are provided for each bed. Notes on accommodation A baby cot and highchair are available at additional cost on request. The bedrooms have individual air-conditioners and there is electric panel heating and a gas open fire downstairs. For the safety of children a secure gate is fixed at the top of the stairs. Outside In the landscaped private courtyard there is an outdoor table setting where you can relax and enjoy a BBQ. Coast/Beach Albert Park is an inner bayside suburb of Melbourne and a safe swimming beach is only 1km from the cottage. Get there by walking or catch a tram at the end of the street. Famous St Kilda beach is only 5 mins away by car or tram. Golf The Albert Park public golf course is located in the Albert Park Lake precinct which is famous for the Australian Grand Prix. This course is about 1.5km from Sweeny Cottage. Skiing Mt Buller is the closest ski resort to Melbourne. It is an easy 4 hours drive to the north east. Sight-seeing snow is usually found at Lake Mountain which is approx. 2.5 hours from Melbourne. Other ski resorts are at Falls Creek and Mt Hotham. These are approx 5-6 hours drive from Melbourne. Snow usually falls in winter late June to August. Travel Melbourne airport is located 20-30 minutes from the cottage. There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the city but it is easier to hire a car or catch a taxi. Aternatively please let us know in advance if you would like to book a limousine to take you from the airport to the cottage. Distances The city of Melbourne is only 3km away. St Kilda is in the opposite direction and you can be there in 5 minutes by tram. The picturesque Mornington Peninsula is one hour's drive to the south and the Yarra Valley winery region is one hour to the north west. Further details Sweeny Cottage is conveniently located very close to shops, a supermarket, restaurants and public transport. Everything is within easy walking distance. Families can enjoy the playground in nearby St Vincent Gardens. The Australian Grand Prix is held annually in March at the Albert Park Lake which is about 1km from the cottage. Booking notes A deposit of 50% of total booking is paid to secure a booking. Credit card payment is preferred. If alternative payment is required please phone us. Full payment is due 14 days prior to arrival date. Cancellation and refunds. The deposit of 50% of total booking less AU$50 admin fee if cancellation occurs more then 14 days prior to arrival date. If less than 14 days to arrival date the deposit and full payment is refunded (less AU$50 cancellation fee) only if another guest books the same dates.
