| Description : | Dominica is a small friendly English speaking island in the East Caribbean and should not be confused with the Spanish speaking Dominican Republic. A recently and well constructed cottage, simply but tastefully furnished. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen lounge/dining and a generous covered balcony on two sides, accessed from lounge and bedrooms. Garden slopes steeply away and is lawned, with mature fruit trees. There are some enjoyable hiking trails in this locality, along the Sari Sari and Rosalie Rivers and to the Freshwater Lake in the National Park. North of Riviere Cyrique is a long shallow beach, good for surfing and below Riviere Cyrique is a 'secret beach' which you have to climb down to and where a splendid waterfall cascades into the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches on the Atlantic coastline in this locality are prime turtle nesting areas. Vehicle hire recommended - Melville Hall Airport 1 hour, Roseau 1 hour. Dominica has a mountain range with peaks approaching 5,000ft., cloaked in tropical rainforest and lush vegetation, boasting a world heritage site - the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. Many crystal clear rivers, waterfall, lakes, hot mineral water spa's and the world's second largest Boiling Lake. | Direction : | From Melville Hall Airport, follow the coast road south, then south west across the island till you reach a roundabout at Pond Casse. Turn left and follow this road till it reaches the east coast at the mouth of the Rosalie River. From here follow the road south for about 2 miles till you see a bus shelter on the right of a left bend in the road. Before this is a sharp right turning which takes you up into the hamlet of Morne Aux Fregate. There is a small sign forGinger Lily Cottage at the junction. Follow this road through the village till you see the cottage on your left. Allow about an hour to reach there from Melville Hall Airport. |
