It is peaceful and never very crowded as beaches on the north or west coast can be and the views are spectacular. The beach takes 5-7 minutes to reach on foot or less than a minute by car. There is also a coast guard office on site for your peace of mind and security. They are always very friendly and can give you lots of advice on the best spots to swim and snorkel. Golf The links golf course is a 5,492m 18-hole course designed by Peter Allis. With its wide open spaces and rolling terrain, elevated trees, challenging dog legs and water hazards on six holes. The clubhouse, situated on the highest point on the course, enjoys magnificent panoramic views of this beautiful island. Off the east coast of Mauritius, a short hop across a coral lagoon in a 'golfing special' water taxi from the 5 star Le Touessrok Hotel, this extraordinary course stands on its very own tropical island, Ile aux Cerfs, fringed by white sands. All 18 holes have spectacular views on the Ocean. There are 9 lakes in all so the course achieves designer Bernhard Langer's intention of challenging advanced players, while remaining exciting and playable for recreational golfers. The views and the excitement of the course are breathtaking. It's the longest course in Mauritius at over 6,476m. The fast greens are mostly small and undulating, requiring precise approach shots. Travel Plaisance is the nearest airport and is 40km or 1 hour 15 minutes drive. For your convenience, a complimentary car is included in the price of the villa and can seat upto 4 easily. We can arrange additional car hire from around only £15 per day. Distances The nearest commercial town is Flacq and is located 10 mins drive away. There is also a good bus service to Flacq. Here there are shops, banks and supermarkets for all your needs. The villages of Belle Mare and Trou d'eau douce are 8 and 15 mins drive away. Here there are plenty of local shops and good restaurants - Chinese, Mauritian or sea food specialities. Further details Many activities are available at the public beaches. At Belle Mare there is waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, parasailing and deep sea diving with courses for all levels available. At Ile aux Cerfs, there is also parasailing, waterskiing and excellent snorkelling. You get there by taking a boat from the village of Trou d'eau Douce. With the abundance of excellent hotels on the east coast, you can also pre book treatments at the spas. We recommend the Prince Maurice and the Residence as the range and quality of the treatments are excellent. The more touristy region of Grand Baie is 30 mins away by car. Here, you will find a large range of bars and restaurants but you need to choose carefully as some are better than others!! We recommend 2 excellent local restaurants. The first is Chez Manuel at Saint Julien Village which offers local dishes, speciality of Chinese and seafood. The other is Le Four a Chaud which serves excellent seafood and is located overlooking the Indian Ocean at Trou d'eau Douce. There is also a good local take away at lunch times called Chez Nizam at Roches Noires. The final local restaurant you must try is La Maison d'ete which is 5 mins away by car. You need to book a table in advance but the food is excellent with a variety of local and continental dishes. A deposit of 35% is required to confirm the booking and the final balance must be paid 15 weeks prior to departure. A deposit of £200 is also required for the local telephone calls and any breakages.
