The majestic Northern Drakensberg Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop to the understated luxury found at the Big Five Jackalberry Lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve, Limpopo Province, South Africa. Description The luxury accommodation, for up to 16 guests, creates a restful ethnic ambience in harmony with nature. Attention to detail and true South African hospitality will charm guests and leave them with a true sense of real beauty and warmth. Every sense is indulged in the chalet style rooms with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and patios offering comfort and sheer decadence with African flair. There are morning and afternoon / evening game safaris in open Land Rovers with highly trained rangers and trackers. More than 60 species of wildlife are found on this vast reserve, including Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, and Elephant as well as several delightful and unusual species of fauna and flora. Walking and birding safaris can also be arranged as Jackalberry is a paradise for bird-watchers. In summer (October to March) temperatures range from 16°C to 38°C and in winter (May June and July) from 5°C to 26°C. Summer days and nights are generally hot and humid outdoors while winter days are mild and very comfortable with evenings and early morning being cold. The Lowveld has summer rainfall. Please note that this is a Malaria area. Tea, coffee, muffins, rusks and croissants are provided on the morning game drive and various savoury snacks on the evening game drive. Brunch is served after the morning game drive and high tea is served prior to the afternoon / evening game drive. A three course dinner is erved in the evening. Child Policy Children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives. Gate operating times The Jackalberry Lodge gates open around 07:00 and closes at 18:00 daily. A special gate pick up is available by prior arrangement should it be required.
