Ideally situated in Agulhas you can walk to great restaurants, art galleries, the most southern tip of Africa, and our famous lighthouse. And, of course, it is a mere stroll over the road to the sea! Sunny, airy and very comfortably furnished, every day is summer at this friendly B&B. Enjoy a lazy day in the sun, have a barbeque and a glass of local wine in the courtyard while gazing over the sea. Agulhas offers a host of activities - walking, deep sea fishing and birding to mention a few. A short drive and you can visit the De Hoop Nature Reserve, where the Southern Right Whale comes to breed and mate during the months of August to November every year. From Agulhas, take a day trip to Elim, our famous local wine farms, Napier or even Hermanus, and return in the evening to the peace and tranquility of Summer Place! Summer Place also offers the choice of a summer holiday where you can hire the entire house for your summer holiday by the sea. Summer Place B & B offers three bedrooms, two of which have stunning sea-views. Guests also have the use of a spacious courtyard with built in barbeque facilities, lounge with satellite television, and a lawned garden. Double rooms include bathrooms en suite. Full English breakfast is served in a sunny diningroom. Pay a visit to the various wine farms in the Agulhas region - Black Oystercatcher, Quoin Rock, The Berrio, First Sighting and Zoetendal. Directions to Summer Place: Cape Agulhas is 230km and approximately 2 1/2 hours drive from Cape Town. Take the N2 from Cape Town, through Somerset West, towards Caledon. At Caledon follow the signposts to Bredasdorp. As you turn right towards the southern most tip of Africa. From Bredasdorp take the Struisbaai/Agulhas Road. Entering Agulhas, follow the road until a small bay appears on the left. Opposite, turn right into Cooper Street. Summer Place is the second house on the right. Plane Arrival The nearest airport is Cape Town International Airport. Explore the region and visit it's picturesque villages. You will drive through Napier, the village with old world charm. Century-old cottages blend with modern houses resulting in a delightful rural atmosphere. Arniston, only 2 hours drive from Cape Town, is an old fishing village with a quaint atmosphere. Visit Bredasorp with its Shipwreck museum. Take a trip to Struisbaai with its pretty whitewashed fisherman's cottages and the longest uninterrupted beach of 14km in the Southern hemisphere, fine for swimming, fishing and shell collecting. From Struisbaai, follow the road along the sea to Agulhas and the famous lighthouse. The hospitality of the people of the Cape Agulhas region and the beauty of the surrounding countryside is certain to enrich all and impact the wish to return to enjoy the ambience of this region again.
