| Description : | This spacious newly built holiday villa in Sri Lanka is located on the south west coastal town of Aluthgama, which is near the main tourist resort of Bentota. Aluthgama is 61km south of Colombo, the capital and 50km north of the main city of the south, Galle. The villa was designed in the style of Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s most famous and revered architect. The villa is 15 minutes walk to the main Bentota beach and the towns of Aluthgama and Bentota, which offer a wide choice of shops, banks, restaurants and hotels. The main Colombo - Galle road passes Teak Villa, which enjoys a secluded position within a residential area of Aluthgama, affording maximum privacy. The property is entered through strong security gates with the use of a video intercom / entry system. There is also a high perimeter wall surrounding the villa which offers additional security. Accommodation Bedrooms: All 3 bedrooms are spacious and have four poster queen size teak beds which are draped with mosquito nets. Bedroom 1 is en-suite and 2 share a communal bathroom. All 3 bedrooms are air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and all have access to the side gar Bathrooms: En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 and second communal bathroom to bedrooms 2 and 3. Both bathrooms are large and fully tiled. They have solar powered hot/cold water, showers, wc and hand basin. Kitchen: There is a modern kitchen with large fridge freezer, gas cooker/oven, toaster, wall and floor cupboards and all necessary crockery, cutlery and glassware. There is also a water machine which provides fresh and cool drinking water. Utility Room: There is a laundry room with automatic washing machine, iron and iron board for guest use. Living Rooms: There is a large sitting room which offers central living and dining areas for socialising with satellite TV, CD Player and radio, DVD player and three ceiling fans. Other: There is a quiet mezzanine area which overlooks the swimming pool area where guests can sit relax and chill out. Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: Beds are made daily and the linen changed twice a week. Towels are also provided. Notes on accommodation The villa has been elegantly furnished in a traditional colonial style simple - yet luxurious. The property has its own private garden, pool and staff. The shared areas of the villa are large and open and the high teak wood ceiling keeps the area cool along with the three ceiling fans. All bedrooms are air-conditioned with additional ceiling fans. There is a staff of 3, comprising of house, security, pool manager, House boy and Gardener. Breakfast is included in the price. The rental price is fully inclusive of room servicing, daily cleaning and electricity. The staff will prepare a continental breakfast and will cook good omelettes to order. Guests should discuss other meal requirements with the House Manager, Milanka who can arrange for meals to be provided, all at an additional cost. Amenities/Facilities provided hob/stove, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron/ironing board, satellite tv, air conditioning, room fans, private pool (for sole use of guests) Outside The villa is surrounded by a high perimeter wall. The property is entered through strong teak security gates with the additional use of a video intercom entry system. The gardens are fully landscaped and offer privacy and tranquillity. Each of the bedrooms have access to what we call our secret garden which is an area covered by a pergola and foliage which keep the bedrooms cool. The swimming pool is 25 foot long with underwater lighting for evening swimming. There is also an additional outside pool shower and available sun loungers. There are large outside veranda areas for dining and general socialising. Coast/Beach The villa is 15 mins walk to the main Bentota Beach which is a large soft golden beach. Excellent for swimming and snorkeling. Travel 2-2½ hours car from Colombo airport. Local excursions to the turtle hatcheries, river excursions, Lunaganga (Geoffrey Bawa’s residence near Bentota) can be made by the local Tuk Tuk (3 wheeler taxi). Galle Fort and overnight trips to Pinawalla Elephant orphanage, Kandy, Sigiriya and the tea plantations can be arranged by our house manager. Costs if required can be obtained and provided at the time of booking. Distances The villa is located in a residential area of Aluthgama 10-15 mins walk to the centre of Aluthgama and the town of Bentota offering a wide choice of restaurants hotels, shops and banks. There is a local market takes place every Monday in Aluthgama. Further details There is a popular Ayurvedic spa within walking distance of the villa which offers various treatments which include oil massages, steam baths and bathing in herbal waters. We can also arrange a selection of treatments at the villa including aromatherapy massages and reflexology and these can be arranged by the house manager. Charges on request. Water sports including boating, fishing, jet skiing, waterskiing and windsurfing can be found on Bentota river which again is within a short walking distance of the villa. The staff at the villa are friendly and helpful. Milanka, who speaks English, is the House Manager and he will arrange things for you on your request. Booking notes A part payment of 25% is required on booking with the balance payable six weeks prior to departure. Deposits are non-refundable. Enquiries/Bookings should only be made via the UK owners direct and not via local contacts based in Sri Lanka. Guest comments 'Sri Lanka has been one of my most enjoyable and memorable vacations to date. My stay at Teak Villa added a sense of style comfort and personal service. The house manager was attentive, informative and helpful. The options of a personal chef, private pool and complete privacy were excellent. The location was exceptional, the beach, spa, water sports, restaurants and bars were all in walking distance. I am already planning a return trip.'
