Description : | This beautiful, newly built, colonial style, two storey holiday villa is situated on a hill with far reaching views over a lush green valley. It is just an eight minute walk from Great Courland Bay (Turtle Beach) in Tobago. Turtles Retreat villa is set in its own private gardens full of numerous plants and trees. From the lower veranda the patio connects onto the very large (20ft x 40ft) infinity edge pool with a separate jacuzzi. You are able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful island of Tobago, yet just a 5 minute drive away there are wonderful restaurants/entertainment and leisure activities. Situated on the Caribbean side of the island, Turtles Retreat sleeps eight people very comfortably for your vacation. Local Area The surrounding area and the island of Tobago offer numerous activites, excursions, dining, shopping and of course fine beaches: Shopping - There are several small shops in the locality but the large supermarkets are just a 10 minute drive away. Dining - A choice of very fine restaurants such as the Sea Horse, Melange, Shirvan Watermill, The Pavillion Restaurant and Indigo are all less than 15 minutes in a car. Activities - There's the Championship golf course of Mount Irvine just a few minutes drive away and other local activities include scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, wake-boarding, kayaking, water-skiing, bird watching and tennis. Excursions - There are numerous places of interest located just a short drive away and between the months of April and August the Turtles come to nest on the beach just 8 minutes walk away! Over 120 Butterflies and 210 species of Birds can be found on Tobago. There's the famous Buccoo Reef - Reef tours available daily in specially crafted glass bottom boats; and the world-renowned Nylon Pool ... underwater life as you have never seen it before. If your timing is right, you can catch Tobago's Carnival and Heritage Festival, which are held annually in April. For those eco-tourists among you, venture into the Forest Reserve for a shaded walk among misty greenery and exotic animal and bird life. This is the oldest protected rainforest in the Western hemisphere The Island Referred to as 'Crusoe's Isle', Tobago is certainly one of the gems of the Caribbean archipelago of islands just twenty minutes by air from Trinidad. Tobago was sighted by Christopher Columbus on his third voyage in 1498. Many historic battles have been fought on the island and its rich history is influenced by the Dutch. English and French who settled Tobago over the centuries. Tobago however, is best known for its friendly people, pristine beaches, coral reefs, dive spots, marine life, birds, flowers, handicraft and culinary delights.
