Description : | The property is located in Kalkan, which is on Turkey’s south west Mediterranean coastline known as the 'Lycian Turquoise Coast'. Located above Kalkan, Villa Manzara is close enough to walk downhill into town. Set over 3 floors, our air-conditioned house sleeps 8 to 10. Fully furnished to a very high standard with linen supplied (except beach/pool towels) it has every modern convenience for the discerning self catering holiday maker. Whether you are a family, friends or just a couple, our beautiful villa is a perfect holiday retreat for you! Amenities at a Glance On Site Locally Air Conditioning Oven & Hob Fridge/Freezer Washing Machine Dishwasher Radio/CD Player Hairdryers Mosquito Nets Swimming Pool Pool Terraces Sun Lounges/Parasols BBQ Banks & Post Office Supermarket Bars & Restaurants Cafes Marina Beaches Water Sports The ground floor has a large open plan, airy living space with radio/CD player and games. A WC is also located on this floor. There is a fully fitted kitchen/dining area with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and all the cooking utensils required for self-catering. There are pool terraces and an outdoor cabana/BBQ eating area seating 8. Up the staircase to the first floor there is a spacious master bedroom with king size bed, and a twin bedroom, each with en-suites and terraces. On the top floor there is a further master bedroom with king size bed, and a twin bedroom, both with en-suite shower rooms, WC, and again terraces. All bedrooms have mosquito nets and are air-conditioned. Hairdryers are supplied in each bedroom. Our bedrooms sleep 8 but if a party of 10 is to be accommodated this would be achieved by the 9th and 10th person being supplied with single folding beds which can be sited either in the master bedrooms or in the living area. A travel cot is also available for infants. Pool The pool has an average water temperature of 28°c in the summer months. There is no shallow end so small children need to be supervised at all times. We supply comfortable sun lounges and parasols on the terraces around the pool. Guests should supply their own beach/swimming towels as these are not provided. Outside At the front of the house there are the pool terraces and BBQ with seating for 8. Subtle lighting or candles if you prefer, add to the ambience for idyllic dining. Because of the elevated position, the staircase and unmade roads leading to the house, it is not ideal for the elderly of infirmed. A 'Welcome Pack' is provided on arrival. We supply a daily maid service for light cleaning and twice a week a full villa clean and linen change is done. There is a mobile 'Pay As You Go' phone in the villa with a local Turkish SIM card for ordering Taxis or making restaurant reservations. An English speaking agent is available for help and advice. Transfers can be arranged along with car hire. Local Area Kalkan has long been considered the prettiest of the small coastal towns along this part of the Mediterranean coast, nesting at the foothills of the Taurus Mountains in the heart of the old Lycian region. The town retains much of its original Ottoman character; a tranquil fishing village with white washed houses draped with the purple blooms of bougainvillea and cobbled streets. There are 3 banks, a post office and numerous enchanting shops which stay open until midnight, selling everything from glitzy western goods to traditional Turkish items. A lively harbour is surrounded by plush restaurants, cafes, jazz bars and a marina which attracts beautiful 'gullets', the traditional wood built boats. It is a village that has retained the elusive mixture of east-meets-west, and an authentic ambience of relative sophistication which makes it unusual, picturesque and uniquely welcoming as a holiday destination. The climate on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast enjoys hot summer temperatures reaching 28-35ºc during the day, but there is a cooling light breeze known locally as a 'meltem' in the evenings which flows down over the Taurus Mountains and is most welcome whilst out dining at one of the many elegant restaurants in Kalkan or having a BBQ at our villa. The sea temperature is always around the 26ºc in the summer, just perfect for swimming in the clear blue waters along that part of the coastline. Rainfall is negligible during the summer months and will not spoil any holiday. There is only a man-made beach in Kalkan but there are plenty of 'Beach Clubs' which are open to non-members. They offer sun beds and parasols to rent for the day, swimming from purpose built terraces, water sports, restaurants and bar facilities. Transfer time by road from Dalaman, our nearest airport, is approximately 1½ hours. A new tunnel has been built through the mountains which has cut travelling time down considerably. To use the tunnel there is a charge of approx. 2.5 Turkish Lire. If you choose Antalya airport the transfer time is 3½ - 4 hours. |
