Sneaton lies on the south side of the lower Esk Valley, within the North York Moors National Park, well known for its attractive scenery and walks. This rural village has Beacon Farm, famous for its ice cream parlour and The Wilson Arms.
The heritage coastline is nearby with villages such as Robin Hoods Bay and Sandsend having popular beaches. The historic old fishing port of Whitby, lying 3 miles to the north boast an excellent selection of restaurants, shops, a marina and golf course.
