Accommodation Description | |
Description : | This stunning Country House Hotel is set in 44 acres of landscaped gardens and beautiful North Devon countryside. It is located within minutes of secluded coves and many fine sandy beaches, such as Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton, yet so accessible to the A361, too. It is also within easy reach of Ilfracombe, Exmoor and the famous North Devon coastal path offering spectacular views. The property, with origins in the Domesday Book and parts dating back some 400 years, was tastefully converted to a hotel in 1976 and has recently undergone a major refurbishment, including the conversion of part of the Hotel into the accommodation for the owners, Philip and Helen Milton. In January 2009 the team was strengthened by the addition of Head Chef, Jon Hughes. He started his career after completing an Honors Degree in English and Creative studies, using his lifelong interest and enthusiasm in food to establish a popular “gastro pub” in the centre of Taunton. From there, Jon, enjoyed a busy summer season on Bryher at the rosette-wining Hell Bay Hotel. He then wanted to expand his experience and has worked in Australia, Bristol and lastly as the Head Chef in the Hampshire Hotel, St Helier, which was awarded three stars! Jon’s passion for food covers a very wide range of styles and skills. His enthusiasm for every aspect of cooking creates innovative and exciting menus and he is keen to explore opportunities for home-grown vegetables to complement the present herb garden, curing and smoking meats and perhaps experimenting with home-made sausages. The Restaurant (which is also open to non-residents) is open for evening meals, Sunday and week-day lunches, private parties, weddings, conferences and workshops, etc. In addition to a Lounge Bar and Restaurant, the Hotel boasts wonderful facilities including en-suite bedrooms and suites, a courtyard, extensive gardens and where you can relax with a glass of wine. This, coupled with an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and games room for residents means that Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel has everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay. The Hotel also incorporates four self-catering cottages. Each Cottage is fully furnished to a good standard and offers a variety of sleeping arrangements to suit most needs (each cottage sleeping up to nine people). We provide everything you need for your self-catering holiday except towels. Pets are welcome in the Cottages but are excluded from the Hotel, other than guide dogs. Whatever the weather there is always something to do at Trimstone. Cottage residents are welcome to use the Games Room, Tennis court, Putting course or just sit on the lawn and enjoy the peace and quiet that Trimstone has to offer. Guests staying in the cottages are also most welcome to use the Hotel bar and Restaurant and enjoy special terms for breakfast and evening meals. We are able to cater for larger functions, including weddings. Whether you want a formal a la carte meal in our Restaurant (seating approximately fifty-five people) or a marquee with a more relaxed atmosphere, we can help design a day tailored to suit you. We pride ourselves on being flexible to ensure that together we create a spectacular day for you. Weekend packages for exclusive use of the Hotel and cottages are available. We also offer special offers for Shooters and Golfers. |
